This doesn't have as memorable tracks as say, 'Stompin' at the Savoy', but it is great to listen to this since buying my vinyl copy in the late 80's. Rufus and Chaka Khan were a sublime combination and well-worth listening to. Chaka Khan was at her best with these guys/5(53).

  7. Before her solo career, Chaka Khan loaned her inimitable vocal stylings to Chicago-based funk outfit Rufus. On Masterjam, the group's eighth LP, they deliver some of their best work, fusing bass-heavy grooves, swinging drumbreaks, bold horns, and soulful lyricism. An under-appreciated album from a top-notch band.
